Foremost financial institution, Standard Chartered is in the news again with the latest edition of its Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarship at Oxford University – UK, 2023 for three exceptional African students who want to enroll in the University of Oxford’s 1-year program.
The scholarships have been funded through the support of the Standard Bank of South Africa and covers course fees and a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.
According to Standard Bank, it is committed to enable and empower scholars to become effective leaders in Africa.
Application Deadline
The deadline for filling of the online form by applicants has been set at January 2023 but the exact date depends on the course that each individual applies for.
Eligible Countries
For candidates to be eligible for the scholarship, he/she must be from Angola, Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
Preference will be given to nationals of Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and South Sudan.
Type
The scholarship is designed for those that want to add the Masters’ degree to their portfolio.
Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship is scheduled to run for a duration of 365 days.
Value of Scholarship
The scholarship covers course fees and a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.
Eligible Fields of Study
You must be applying to start any full-time, one-year taught master’s course within the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities Divisions.
Eligibility
- You are applying to start a new graduate course;
- You submit your course application by the relevant January admissions deadline;
- You are subsequently offered a place after consideration of applications received by the deadline;
- Your application is not placed on a waiting list or held back after the January admissions deadline to be re-evaluated against applications received by the March admissions deadline.
How to Apply
Candidates are advised to submit necessary details via the online portal before the January deadline.
However, selection is expected to take place at the end of July 2023.
